Topps Midnight Football has 37 rookies in 100 cards, and the ink is the chase

2026 Topps Midnight Football is a 100-card base set, and 37 of those cards are flagged Rookie. That's a lot of rookie real estate in a small checklist, so here's where I'd actually point my chase.

The rookie wall is the base set

Run the checklist and the first thing you notice is how deep the class goes. Jeremiyah Love is #15 (Cardinals). Fernando Mendoza is #21 (Raiders). Caleb Downs is #51 (Cowboys). Arvell Reese is #54 (Giants). Makai Lemon is #73 (Eagles). Carnell Tate is #49 (Titans). Drew Allar is #94 (Steelers). None of these are inserts. They're plain base-set numbers on a dark, after-hours design that looks better in a top loader than it has any right to.

Vets anchor the front: Ja'Marr Chase is #1, Justin Jefferson is #9, Brock Purdy is #4, Malik Nabers is #13. Rookies get stacked right alongside them, which is exactly how I want a Chrome-style set laid out.

Where the real chase is

Base cards are the floor. The reason to rip is the autograph lineup: Rookie Horizon Signatures, Horizon Signatures, the 15-veteran Stroke of Midnight Autographs, Midnight Oil Marks, Moonlit Materials Signatures, Dark Matter Autographs, and dual-swatch REM Relic Autographs for rookies. Then the short-print inserts, which have the best names in the hobby this year: Celestial Roots, Constellations, Dream Land, Earthshine, Insomnia, Night Night, Nightball, and Twilight.

If I'm hunting one thing, it's a rookie on an autograph or an REM Relic. A rookie base card is a fun pickup. A rookie with ink is the one that goes in the "not selling it" pile.

What I'm doing about it

I don't have Midnight in stock right now, so I'm not going to pretend otherwise. The full 100-card list with every number and team is up, and I'll add stock to it the moment I've got cards. That's how this works: whatever sells pays for the next box, and the keepers stay with me.

Check live sold prices before you buy anything on a new release, because the numbers move fast: Midnight autographs, sold.
